Gearhart, Reynolds Named AVCA First Team All-Americans

LEXINGTON, KY.- The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Tuesday announced its 36thannual All-America Teams for Division III women's volleyball. Seniors Nakita Gearhart (Waynesboro, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) and Kelly Reynolds(Upper Saint Clair, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) were both named to the First Team. This is Reynolds' second straight First Team selection while it is Gearhart's first. Gearhart was named to the Third Team in 2015.

 

Reynolds played in 32 matches and 113 sets for the Eagles this season. Her 1,269 assists was a season-best. In all off NCAA Division III, she is first in assists per set with an average of 11.23. She is ninth in total assists. Reynolds earlier this month was named an AVCA All-Region selection and named Landmark Player of the Year for the second straight season.

 

Gearhart had a career season for the Eagles as she totaled 299 kills and hit .336 in 31 matches. Her 77 total blocks were second. She also had a career-best 84 digs and 34 service aces. Gearhart was named to the Landmark Conference First Team and was named the Landmark Tournament Most Valuable Player for the third straight season. In the NCAA Regional last weekend in Fredericksburg, Va., she put up 29 kills, hit .345, and put down five service aces as she was selected to the Regional All-Tournament Team.
