Age Guide
In general, Renaissance club teams are based on your athlete's birthday.
Use this guide below to determine the appropriate age group for your athlete.

Pro tip!
Athletes usually turn the age of their team during the season. How old will your athlete be on June 30, 2026? That's the age group they should be playing for the 2025-2026 season.
2025-26 Age Definitions for Renaissance Teams
Age definitions are set by USA Volleyball and our governing region, Ohio Valley Region (OVR).

Use the information below to determine which age group your athlete qualifies for. Our tryout registration process should route you into the proper age group for your athlete. If you have difficulty, please reach out at info@renaissancevolleyball.com with your athlete's date of birth and grade.

In rare circumstances, an athlete's birthday will create an age/grade mismatch. An example of this is an athlete who is eligible to participate on a 14U team because of their birthday, but will be a freshman in high school (which is typically a 15U team). During tryouts, we note athletes in this situation and work to create a best fit, given the options available.
