Joe Milcoff
Assistant Coach
EXPERIENCE
Before joining Renaissance, I’ve coached for Washington & Lee University, Blessed Francis Seelos Academy, and East Coast Power; I played for my high school team and club team in college.
PHILOSOPHY
Sports, and particularly volleyball, teach us the very important life skills of teamwork and overcoming adversity. Volleyball success often requires three players combining to better the ball in a way that prevents the other team from effectively returning it. That doesn’t happen without teamwork. And even the best players and teams have off days and make bad plays. Being able to regroup and play the next point is the only way to “come from behind.” We all make mistakes; bad mistakes are the ones we don’t learn from. When a team comes together and overcomes adversity that creates a lasting sense of accomplishment.
WHAT I BRING TO THE GYM
My daughter, a positive attitude, and a passion for helping our players grow in their ability to play and enjoy this great game.
WHEN I'M NOT COACHING VOLLEYBALL
Enjoying my family, often cheering on my daughters, with one on the stage and one on courts and fields; working; walking; and occasionally biking, fishing, or skiing.
SOMETHING YOU PROBABLY DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME
I learned to jump from a perfectly good airplane courtesy of the U.S. Army.
