EXPERIENCE
I started my love for volleyball in fourth grade in South Carolina, continued playing until my senior year of high school. Started club volleyball my freshman year of high school, finished my senior year of high school. Through the years I played in South Carolina, Georgia, and finally ended my passion in Pittsburgh.
Lots of moving around - freshman year I played for Peters Township, sophomore-senior year I played for Seton La-Salle.
I unfortunately had a career ending injury, but I refused to not still be involved with my love for volleyball. I immediately started coaching when I graduated high school, my first real coaching position was at St. Louise (my alma mater).
I continued coaching for 2.5 years - before moving back to South Carolina, where I attended college at the University of South Carolina! 2 years later after attending U of SC I made the move back to Pittsburgh, where I started coaching right away again.
I am now going into my fourth season with Peters Township boys team, JV head coach (3 years). This past fall was my third season with Peters Township girls team, JV head coach (2 years).
I look at my injury now as eye-opening not discouraging. It has opened so many doors for me, within coaching. I am so grateful to be joining the Renaissance coaching staff, I can't wait for this season and more to come!
PHILOSOPHY
Sports are greater than just points and winning. They bring relationships, outlets, and a strong mindset. Healthy competition equals healthy mindset, that is my philosophy on not just volleyball, but sports in general.
WHAT I BRING TO THE GYM
My gym will always be competitive, but also informative. I live by every practice/ game, makes an athlete better. I strive to be enthusiastic and be a positive attitude to teach, but also for me to listen.
I really focus on enabling my athletes to get better everyday. Reinforcing individual accountability while always remaining a positive teammate.
WHEN I'M NOT COACHING VOLLEYBALL
When I am not in the gym, I love to travel. Seeing the world and different cultures is very interesting to me, I am very grateful for the experiences I have has thus far.
I also love trying new restaurants in the Pittsburgh area! I am gluten and dairy free - which means I am always on the hunt for a new spot with these restrictions.
SOMETHING YOU PROBABLY DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME
I have had Lyme disease since I was 16. I live with it everyday and juggle different feelings and obstacles it throws my way!
